Patna: Two people, including a UP Police constable, were killed, and three others were injured, while an 18-month-old child had a miraculous escape, in a head-on collision between a car and a speeding truck on a state highway in Gopalganj's Baikunthpur police station area early on Sunday morning. The injured are undergoing treatment in Patna Medical College and Hospital.
Police said that the car was on its way from Padrauna in Uttar Pradesh to Gaya district, when the speeding truck, coming from opposite side, hit it. The impact was so severe that the car was shattered and dragged into a ditch. Two car passengers, identified as Sonu Sharma (31) and constable Chhotu Kumar (27), died on the spot, while three women were critically injured.
Upon receiving information about the accident, Baikunthpur police arrived at the scene and recovered the two bodies, before sending them to Gopalganj Sadar Hospital for postmortem.
